Meet The Breeder
Hi, I’m Shaina Mayes, the heart behind Ausdauer Australian Shepherds. My love for dogs started young, and when I brought home my first Aussie at 17, I quickly knew this was the breed for me. One Aussie soon turned into three, and from there I was hooked. They say Aussies are like potato chips, you can’t have just one, and I found that to be true.
From the start, I wanted to be more than just an owner. I wanted to really understand the breed and be part of its future. I spent years learning, studying pedigrees, researching structure and health, and surrounding myself with mentors who helped guide me. I also made sure my dogs were more than just dogs at home. We trained, trialed, earned titles, and spent plenty of time working in different venues.
I have a degree in molecular biology, which gives me a strong foundation in genetics and helps shape my decisions as a breeder. Every litter is planned with thought and purpose, with the future of the breed always in mind.
My goal is to produce Aussies who are versatile and well rounded. Dogs who can succeed in the show ring, thrive in performance, or simply be incredible companions while staying true to the heritage of the breed.
